Whether you are looking to create an encrypted photo album or you just want to protect your pictures from being accessed by others, there are a few things you can do to ensure they are locked and secure. The easiest way to do this is to make use of the Face ID or Touch ID option on your iOS device.
Using Face ID or Touch ID
Hidden photo albums are a great way to protect personal photos. When you delete a photo in the hidden album, the deleted image stays on your phone for up to 30 days. This makes it easier to access your important pictures.
With iOS 16, it is now possible to protect your recently deleted photos and videos. This is achieved by allowing users to lock their secret albums. The locked album can be accessed by authenticating with a passcode or Face ID.
However, you can still see the hidden album, even if you don’t know how to unlock it. You’ll need to toggle the Use Touch ID or the Use Face ID buttons on the Albums page to unlock it. If you have a model of iPhone that doesn’t support Touch ID, you can use a passcode.
Apple has made the “Hidden album” a much more secure feature in iOS 16. Now, users can hide their photos and only those with the correct password will be able to access them.
To enable the ability to hide your secret photos, you will first need to update your device to iOS 16 or macOS Ventura. Both of these are set to release this fall.
Until now, hiding a photo album was a complicated process. A third-party app was used to keep private images safe. But now, iOS 16 has a built-in feature that can help you do just that.
Unlocking a hidden photo album
The latest iOS 16 update has brought many changes to the iPhone, including the ability to unlock a hidden photo album. Before this update, you would have to either do a lot of workarounds, or use third-party apps to protect your sensitive photos.
With the release of iOS 16, Apple finally closed the gap. This new feature enables users to lock secret images on their iPhones, including videos, to help keep them out of sight. You can also access the note with the photos by using a password.
To make your hidden photos more secure, Apple also rolled out a new feature to lock recently deleted media content. In fact, the latest version of the Photos app even automatically locks Hidden and Recently Deleted albums. And with the latest update, you can now lock a hidden album with your iPhone’s Touch ID or Face ID.
Although iOS 16 isn’t the first mobile OS to offer an option to lock photos, the features it has introduced make it more secure than ever. Aside from the photos themselves, you can now lock a Hidden album to prevent other people from viewing your photos.
As with any other lock, you will need to authenticate with a passcode or Face ID. Luckily, the process is relatively simple.
Keeping your photos safe
If you want to protect your photos, you should know that Apple has introduced a new feature in iOS 16 that makes your hidden images even more private. You will now be able to lock them in an album so that anyone with access to your phone cannot view them.
In the past, you had to use a third-party app to lock your pictures. The Photos app, however, has an option for locking your photo albums.
To set up this security, go to Settings > Privacy and Security. Check the box for “Enable lock for hidden content”. This will allow you to password-protect your hidden photos. After doing so, you will need to authenticate with Touch ID or Face ID when you want to access them.
To hide a photo, you will need to open the Photos app. From there, you will be able to select multiple pictures. Once you’ve done that, a tick will appear inside the blue circle. These selected images will now be put in the Hidden album.
To unhide these pictures, you will need to tap the 3-dots icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. A pop-up menu will then appear. Select “Unhide” to remove the picture from the Hidden album.
