How to Turn on an iPhone XR

How to Turn on an iPhone XR

If you have an iPhone XR, you might occasionally find that it can’t turn on. It’s a strange situation, and it can be hard to figure out what’s wrong.

However, there are a few ways to troubleshoot the issue and get your phone back on track. If the problem is severe, then it may be time to call Apple Support for a tech check.

1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button

If you’re experiencing problems with your iPhone XR, such as it not turning on or responding to anything, there are a few steps you can take to try and fix the issue. One of the first things you can do is try a hard reset, which forces your iPhone to restart without losing any data.

This will usually get your iPhone working again, though it’s not recommended for every case. It’s also possible your iPhone XR could have a hardware glitch that’s stopping it from starting, in which case you should call Apple Support to schedule a tech check.

You can also shutdown an iPhone XR if it doesn’t have a Home button by pressing and holding the Side or Sleep/Wake button, then either the Volume Up or Volume Down button until the slider appears. The Slide to Power Off slider should be on the screen, so simply drag it to the right to turn off your device.

2. Press and hold the Side button

There’s a lot that you can do with the Side button on your iPhone XR. It’s not just the default way to end a call–you can also take a screenshot or screen record, and even change the iPhone’s wallpaper.

It’s also the place where Apple hides a powerful feature, called Rest Finger to Open. If you’ve turned on this option in Settings – General – Accessibility – Home Button, you can press the home button once to wake the phone if it’s asleep and two clicks to unlock it if you have a passcode or Face ID set up.

This can save a few extra clicks–and a few more minutes on your hands. But it also means you need to know which button you’re pressing, and when.

3. Press and hold the Volume Up button

The Volume Up button on your iPhone XR can be used to adjust media and call volume. You can also use it to silence your ringer when you receive an incoming call.

However, the buttons can sometimes get stuck, and this problem can be frustrating. This could be due to a number of things, including hardware damage or software problems.

One of the easiest ways to fix this is to update your iPhone. This should fix any issues that may be causing your iPhone volume buttons to stick.

4. Press and hold the Volume Down button

You can press and hold the Volume Down button on an iPhone XR to turn off your phone. This is a useful quick fix when you accidentally leave an app open or lose your iPhone.

You also have the option to use your volume buttons to adjust the ringer on your iPhone. To do this, go to Settings -> Sounds & Haptics and turn on the Change with Buttons switch.

You can also use the volume buttons to take burst photos and quick take videos on your iPhone XR. However, this function isn’t available on older iPhone models.

5. Press and hold the Power button

If you’re having trouble getting your iPhone XR to turn on, there are a few things you can try. The first is to make sure that your battery is charged and that it’s connected to a power source.

If that doesn’t work, your next option is to restart your iPhone XR. This will force the phone to reboot itself, which should fix any issues that are stopping it from turning on.

You can restart an iPhone XR by holding down both the Home button and the Power button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo on screen. Once you’re done, release both buttons and wait for the device to boot back up.
