When it comes to the latest iPhone, there’s a lot of different options to choose from. From smaller-than-usual phablet phones to huge Pro models with powerful features and plenty of storage.
But what exactly is the best iPhone? That’s a question we’re often asked.
iPhone 12
The iPhone 12 is the newest model in Apple’s iPhone lineup and features an all-new industrial design with squared-off edges and a flat aluminum band. It also features a ceramic shield on the front that protects it against accidental drops and bumps.
The new design also comes with a larger screen, a faster A14 chip, and a 5G connection. This makes it more powerful and more capable than the iPhone 11 model that launched last year, though it’s still a bit stingy when it comes to battery life.
The camera on the iPhone 12 is improved with a better wide-angle lens, a larger F1.6 aperture, and Night Mode for low light photos. There are also some clever tricks like Deep Fusion and Smart HDR 3 for making images more detailed in low light conditions, as well as support for RAW format shooting.
iPhone 13
Apple’s newest iPhone is the iPhone 13, which offers improvements in performance, cameras and battery life. While it’s not a radical upgrade, its upgrades arrive in more subtle forms that work together to make the new phone compelling.
The iPhone 13 is available in two sizes, the 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini and the 6.1-inch iPhone 13. It features a larger screen, longer battery life and a faster 5G network connection.
The iPhone 13’s display has rounded corners that follow a beautiful curved design and is 5.42 inches diagonally (actual viewable area is less). Outdoor visibility is excellent thanks to 800 nits of peak brightness, and HDR photos and videos can be displayed with a rich and accurate palette.
iPhone SE
The newest iPhone is the Apple iPhone SE, which is the least expensive iPhone on sale right now. It’s also the cheapest iPhone to support 5G.
The iPhone SE isn’t a phone for everyone, but it does have some important advantages that make it worth considering. First of all, it has the latest processor – the A15 – which means it can keep up with newer iOS features for years to come.
Second, it has a great camera with a 12-megapixel sensor that takes clear photos in daytime light. It even supports portrait mode, which lets you blur the background to add a sexy touch to your photos.
The camera on the iPhone SE has a few software-based tricks up its sleeve, including “Deep Fusion” which boosts details in low-light shots and can make photos of static subjects look more detailed than they really are. The iPhone SE isn’t a good choice for nighttime photography though, as it lacks a dedicated night mode.
iPhone 14
The newest iPhone is the iPhone 14. Apple’s flagship mobile device this year features a new camera system, better low-light performance, a faster TrueDepth camera, and other upgrades.
It also introduces two important safety features — Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via satellite, which should be useful if you’re ever in an accident or get lost abroad.
As with last year’s iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 sports a dual-SIM tray, which means you can store up to two eSIMs onboard for different carriers.
In the US, eSIM is fully adopted by all major carriers, but it’s not quite there in every country. In those places, eSIM transfer is a hassle that’s been described by some people as taking hours or even days to complete.
