Whether you have just upgraded to iOS 16, or have upgraded from a previous version, there are a few things you need to know about how to display the battery percentage in your iPhone status bar. After all, it is a great way to check whether your battery is fully charged, and if you have enough juice left to keep your phone alive.
Charge percentage
Whether you’re using an iPhone or an iPad, you’ll need to know how to show battery percentage in your status bar. You can do this by using Control Center or by looking at the top of your display.
The Control Center contains various controls, toggles, and a widget that shows the battery percentage of your device. Depending on the model of your iPhone, you may be able to see this information without even swiping.
The iPhone X shows the battery percentage in the Control Center and in the Today View. You can also check the status by swiping left and right on your Home screen.
The iPhone SE shows the battery percentage as an icon. The iPhone 8 shows it in the status bar. The new iPhone X has a black notch at the top of the screen that houses the camera and speaker. However, there isn’t enough room on the screen for a full-fledged percentage display.
Notched iPhones
Using an iPhone with a notch can be tricky. Notches can make the phone harder to read, and the status bar only has a limited amount of space. However, Apple is adding the ability to see the battery percentage on top of iPhones, as long as the phone is running iOS 16. This feature will not be available on all notched models, and iPhone X models will not be able to display the percentage in the status bar.
iOS 16 brings several new features, including a custom lock screen, an ability to edit and unsend iMessage messages, and recalling sent iMessage messages. One of the most useful features is a new battery percentage indicator. This feature will show the battery percentage inside the battery icon when activated.
Previously, the status bar on Apple iPhones only showed time and the strength of the cellular signal. However, a separate percentage indicator was available for older models. This indicator was displayed next to the battery icon, and the percentage would change colors based on battery level.
Notifications center
Whether you have an iPhone or iPad, you can monitor battery usage with widgets. These widgets give you an overview of how much battery each app is using. This is especially helpful when you’re playing games that use a lot of power.
You can also view your battery percentage in the iPhone’s menu bar. Depending on what you’re doing, the menu bar will change to show you your battery usage.
You can also show your battery percentage in your lock screen. To do so, you’ll need to open up Control Center. This is located in the right hand corner of the top edge of your screen. You’ll also need to enable the Battery Percentage option.
You can also use Siri to display your battery percentage. This is useful for AirPods users, because it can give them the amount of battery left on their wireless headphones. It can also be helpful for those with wired earphones.
Control Center
During iOS 16, Apple brought back the battery percentage indicator in the status bar. Previously, the percentage was positioned to the left of the battery icon. It was also displayed in the Control Center. But when the iPhone X was released in November 2017, the percentage disappeared from the status bar. This was due to the notch.
With iOS 16, Apple has fixed the UI flaw that caused the battery percentage to disappear from the status bar. Instead, the percentage appears within the icon, and it’s the number that changes color depending on the charging status.
If you want to see the battery percentage in the status bar of iOS 16, you’ll need to enable it. You can turn it on by going to Settings > Battery > Battery Percentage. You can also swipe down from the top right corner of your iPhone to open the Control Center. If you don’t want to use the new Control Center, you can add a widget to your home screen that shows the percentage.
